Give to NYSP
The National Youth Sports Program was once a federally funded program up until 2005. It was sponsored by the National Collegiate Athletic Association and its mission was to provide economically disadvantages youth, ages 10 -16, with an opportunity to participate in daily sport instruction and educational programs.
Despite the loss of federal funding, WVU has continued to operate this summer program. Last year the NYSP provided programs and services to approximately 200 young boys and girls living in Morgantown and nearby communities. The camp employed 23 people, provided 149 free physical examinations, and served over 3,000 USDA approved lunches. In 2014, 52% of the children were returning participants.
The success of the program is truly a showcase of university and community support that remains dedicated to the future of our youth.
